Bailey Falls was one of those spur of the moment trips where I wanted to get out somewhere, but wasn’t sure where.
Richland is one of those places that always provides an amazing adventure, I’ve been visiting for twenty years now and I haven’t seen all that it has to offer: including Bailey Falls a waterfall along a tributary of Falling Water Creek.
This place is well known to the horse camp and the people in the area, as there is actually a well defined horse trail that goes all the way into this hollow on the top of the hill.
However, not well known otherwise. I opted to hike the creek which is one of my favorite summer pastimes. Hiking a cold water creek in the middle of summer is just a different kind of experience when you’re outdoors, one that I really enjoy.
The creek is very slippery flat rock for the majority of the hike, so it requires some finesse to hike, but it has a few sections that are beautiful with small drops along the way.
I would recommend hiking the horse trail on the north side of the creek if you want to get in and out without much work.
I would rate the creek hike a medium bushwhack, it’s only about half a mile of creek walking so distance is not an issue, you just have watch where you put your feet.
I've included some pictures of the hike, starting with my truck at the parking location, one of the more beautiful sections on the creek, and a waterfall in a side drainage just right next door to Bailey Falls.
